I used to have a favourite book but I'm not sure anymore.
It was called Valis and it's by Philip K. Dick (Bladerunner etc)
In it the main character a Mr Horselover Fat (Greek and German for Phillip Dick) has an epiphany and sets about writing his own theological tome whilst seeking out the true nature of life. He comes across many philosophies and explores them thoroughly before heading out to find the 70's rock band Mother Goose (a real band) who are in possession of a child who has a special inner sight.
It was so weird yet so clever, so dry yet some rich, so serious yet so funny...
Most other people that I know who have read it think it's a pile of crap lol

I have read the book about Anna Goeldin. She was the last witch which was hanged in Switzerland in 1792. What a life story! She was at the wrong spot at the wrong place. One of the children who she was caring for was spitting out nails. And they said it was Anna who bewitched this child.
I read in 1925 a policeman in Germany shut a guy dead in suspicion of being an werewolf.
Superstitions are still happening.

Wow thank you Misi, I'm looking that book up on the library website right now. I love those stories that tell of courage under extreme adversity ... it makes my own problems seem so incredibly small.
Yay its at the library, its a reference work and not for loan so I will go in and spend a good hour or two having a read of it.

;D ;D Well on the lighter side of things this is a book that I thoroughly enjoyed and most males would at least enjoy. Its based on the West Coast of the South Island. Called 'GOOD BASTARDS' by Paddy Sweeney. Its the larrikins' guide to success. So you can imagine what they got up to and it is really funny down to earth humour. Not to smutty so some ladies would also appreciate it. Paddy has written several books and I am on the lookout for the rest. I loaned this to one fella and he enjoyed it so much he asked if he could read it again. ;D ;D

Good Bastards, haven't read it yet, but it's in my collection somewhere.
Something I learnt about books meandog, those "romantic" novels are full of smut, haha, so I'm sure the ladies could handle it! ;D
Thanks for the heads-up, will dig it out and have a read...

Well I scored a book off Zillion the other day and it has arrived. "The Tiger Who Smiled" by Tim Donoghue. Its all about Lorriane and her son Aaron Cohen in Malaysia on drug charges and Lorriane being sentenced to death. Well I am particularly interested in this book as I went to school with Lorriane and in fact has class pics of her in my class. She also signed my high school magazine with kisses, which I still have. LMAO. Will let you know how it goes. Lorriane's maiden name was Duggan.
