I've thought about it, but I really like wandering around the supermarket (most of the time anyway lol)

I've done it ... its great!
I'll only do it once a month or so, just to give myself a break, but it is a lot of fun!

I don't like it because: a) I like to pick my own produce, meat, dairy, and deli products. b) The in-store and managers specials don't apply to on-line shopping. c) I have a fear of food poisoning, so I pick stuff myself. d) Like Lux, I like to stretch my $$$ as much as I can.

I used to be a Countdown customer until a couple of Xmas's ago and I was walking down this aisle and a horrible creature was coming towards me and coughed up a huge amount of phlegm and spat it on the floor in front of me. That just about made me chunder. Also the amount of frozen stock that is shifted by customers and place on behind tins a bottles. If only these bloody idiots realised that this stock has to be paid for so the mark up is greater to cover this idiocy. I now shop a New World and so far I have not seen anything to put me off. There is a better type of clientelle shop there. Sorry if I sound a snob, but one can take only so much of these filthy habits.

The supermarket is about a 3 minute drive from here so paying for delivery is not a great option for me. Also I have the time to do it. In the future if I get a better paying job I might get it delivered. I remember a TV report about online grocery shopping. It put me off. The supermarket was reserving the right to swap items no longer available for the best possible substitute. But they did a really bad job of it. White onions instead of red ones was one thing I remembered but they also sent a bottle of white wine instead of a bottle of red as well

I have belonged to a couple of food co-op type set ups in my time, I like them but you get no choice. We used to put in $20 and someone would collect all the money, then go down the vege markets where the shops get their veges from and bid on vegetable auctions. Then they'd split everything they got into boxes and deliver. You'd get a huge box of veg but as I said, no choice in what you actually got...

I would shop online - everything is so convienient these days - the first time we ordered a pizza on the computer we were uuuuum happy geeks.
Eventually shopping will become obsolete or will cater to a niche market.
Interesting thread

I've just had my big 'end of year' shop delivered (we don't celebrate christmas so it's not really a christmas shop lol) and it's great! no fighting with crowds of desperate people fighting over the last chook in the freezer, no coping with screaming kids (of course I mean my own lol) and best of all ... free samples! I figured after the year I've had, I deserved a bit of a break from the supermarket
