halftime in the soccer. NZ vs China
we'r bloody lucky to still be at 0-0.. china had a header denied by the crossbar in the first few minutes.. and we'v had a player sent off.. two yellow cards, one for a bad tackle.. and the second for a deliberate hand ball.. which after seeing the replay, i have to admit, was a fair call.. but still controversial..
so we'r down to 10 men for the rest of the game.. so if we can keep it at 0-0 i'll b pretty damn happy.. but so far theyr have more possession and we seem to be giving it away alot more..
the refs been handing out cards like it was christmas!!! i think about 6 yellows in the first half... far out..

How many records will be broken and medals won by drug-fueled competitors?
It's fallen into disrepute which is very sad and the results are meaningless

It's exciting to read your soccer posts. I think the Kiwis did quite well when you think China is such a huge country and would be able to recruit more people than little NZ.
Well done Kiwis!

That was a blardy brilliant double skulls! Marhe Drysdale and ... ? (Leigh, could you please find an emotie to suit this situation, some kinda shrug that says I don't really care, but I did enjoy the race, kinda like, "yeah, woteva"... ? ) Reckon those Russians went too hard at the start and ran out of umph, the Kiwi's powered home in fine style! Can I ask, are Naki and Aztec Coronation Street followers by any chance...

Not since Ena reigned supreme Just watching the woman's road cycling. Shocking conditions, pouring with rain. Interesting to note the amount of wind drag on some of their shirts. I'd have figured that skin tight lycra all over would have been the uniform of choice in such a race. Took a while to figure out if I was watching the men's or woman's road race, haha, obviously cycling is not the sport of big breasted women!

hell yeh go mahe and (insert emoti here..) !!!
shame about the soccer, 5-0 vs brazil, but i mean.. theyr world class and play all over the work including man united, was a gd game to watch tho. even if it was going against what you would hope for.. we had a couple of players recieve yellow cards, which becoz theyv had a couple in previous games, they have to sit out against Belgium. which is such a blow..
yeh cant b easy in the rain.. and that heat!!! far out. couldnt stand it.
just saw barb kendall is competing today. hope she does alright, shes been competing for aages.
8-)go barb

yup Here's why I think the olympics are a sick joke................. Originally, it was a celebration of track and field, the ultimate world gathering of amateur athletes from around the world. Then they decided that it was kind of dull, so we'll put on a lavish opening ceremony. Then a chap named Hitler decided, lets run a symbolic torch relay from Athens to the Berlin Olympics.......... Well the torch relay has grown and grown until it is a meaningless tiki tour to be hijacked by protesters, the opening ceremony has ballooned into an epic spectacle of fake fireworks [ www.metafilter.com/74040/Olympic-fireworks-digitally-faked ]and mimed singing[ www.stuff.co.nz/4653138a26500.html ] , which takes precedence over the athletes' preparations for their events. The host countries efforts to put a fake face on include shutting down businesses so that Beijing doesn't look so polluted, androunding up and detaining any dissidents and homeless people to avoid any upset to visitors. The russians have already been accused of systematic drug abuse by the IOC medical commissioner,Arne Ljungqvist, after 7 athletes tested positive for doping, A Spanish cyclist and an Italian fencer are among 37 athletes caught using performance enhancing drugs in the run up to the Games. The cheating has even extended as far as New Zealand, with foreign athletes being caught in posession of steroids by Customs. Of course the irony of it all is that China is one of the biggest producers of drugs banned by the IOC..................... Enjoy the fake Games. Enjoy the girls in bikins playing beach volleyball. Enjoy the teenagers prancing around twirling ribbons. The medals earned for these 'sports' will look exactly the same as those earned by the real athletes. For my money, an olympic medal is a badge compared to a win at the World Championships at Berlin next year.

Yay! Mahe Drysdale managed to pull off the first medal for New Zealand in the single rowing! And we just pulled off the mens double for a bronze too! Woohoooooo! ;D Mahe will go down as a blardy Legend! Lost 4kg in two days to a nasty virus, then spewed his guts out at the end of this race and was still being carried 5 minutes before taking the podium to receive his medal! GOOOOOOOOOOOOO Kiwis!
