Is Zillion under sabotage at the moment?
They have a large charity auction thing going on at the moment, involving Air New Zealand, and an aweful lot of the bidders are non-address-verified, recently signed in members.
In my opinion Zillion are probably right onto it, immediately trying to contact some of these higher bidders.
At least I would like to think so!
What do you think about this situation?

Well I have applied to become address confirmed (correct term for Zillion LOL) and it takes them up to a fortnight to get the neccessary letter out to me. Well thats what happen with the last account I had with them that I asked to be disabled. So I am waiting patiently for this one.

I dont see it as a problem... Of course a big offer such as these Auctions will bring in new people... And on the Air NZ Site there is a link to the Auctions on Zillion... It can only be good for Zillion...

Well I most certainly like to see them go ahead, its a more friendlier site and the staff are helpful and involved with the traders. I have started listing, and in the new year I will list further items.

I think any public forum is open to sabotage, I sense it strongly here too, or perhaps its just a few that want to test our moderation - Which may I add has been almost nil except for moving a few threads here and there, very proud that banning people hasn't really occurred and I really hope it doesn't have to occur either.
I think both Zillion and TM have a lot going for them, but as with any successful big biz like TM the success can and does go to their heads, so what Zillion has done is provided needed competition (which at this stage is limited but in time I believe it could well be).
When I saw this thread ... I kinda stopped and thought should it be here, as I am a firm believer that YOP is able to stand on its own reputation and not ride on the success or failures of other sites.
But on consideration I find this thread a healthy debate and as long as any personal issues are kept out of it, I for one am happy to keep this thread.
However, if any member disagrees please let us know as it is the opinions of you people that are important. We will always consider opinions that differ, as long as the integrity and rules of YOP stay intact.

Yep, it's not my intention to put zillion down with this thread, they have some good systems in place, and I hope they do well.
I think there is a few people out there a bit disappointed in the way that the team used to bring issues to the boards for some healthy debate before making decisions, however this is happening less and less.
Which is kinda fair enough, their site, their rules, but the boards don't have a lot of stimulating input anymore, in my opinion.
Mind you, I'm just biased, 'cos I'm banned, LOL!

You could well be right - however your perception is open to individual opinions that may differ, but hey that is why this forum is called YOUR OPINION PLEASE ... so what you say Oasis is very valid.
I do share your opinion to a point ... but I guess that is because YOP is dealing with topics that are more down my alley.
It's so nice that we are all individuals.
And a huge yes to one of your points - THEIR RULES, same as TM THEIR RULES, it really annoys me when people come onto any site agreeing to rules and conditions and then they complain about them because they haven't been heeded.
I think though in a lot of cases they are too quick to ban.

But but but! I'm not reversing our decision about direct links! So there! I agree with you on direct links - it opens our site up to confrontational and sometimes downright depressing issues. Members: Hope you realise though ... if there is something that is of a neutral nature, you find on another site, you can simply copy and paste its content and pop it on here without using direct links. However, I am probably stating the obvious with that one, no-one will be un-PC enough not to realise that that is an option - so I apologise for presuming you guys hadn't thought of that. Anyway im off to have a lil rest ... I'll catch up with you later. Mands *Just changing something in my post, Mands original wording untouched*

i like zillion but i dont think they ban trouble makers of a certain kind for long enough i can think of several that have been banned for days or weeks that would and should be banned permanently but because they know the owner of it they seem to be reincarnated as often as they like unfair on the other posters over there especially the innocent ones who voice a dislike of them and get banned for longer in general it is a good board but seems a bit biased to me

having said the negatives they do make it easy to buy from and the moderators seem to keep an eye on things pretty well more pluses than minuses

I am banned and I still like the place... Its systems outweigh TM anyday... Especially Quickship ™... No need for email addresses...

From a coding perspective, it's great to see the level of detail they have gone to. A HUGE step above where TM was at. They have a focus on customers that TM is only starting, despite it's massive head start, to copy. I still don't agree with the fact they have no noscript option for the auction listing process - but that's just the way I was taught - to be inclusive of non JS users despite the small %. They are NZ owned. Their existence is a competitive pressure long overdue. Their intitiatives are customer focused - ratyher than whatever is easiest to code.
Their forum moderation, however, is not something I agree with. It's got holes a retard could drive a bus through. If Z also lack the same impartiality, transparency, and apply a similarly subjective approach to the commercial side of their business, then that will be seriously stunting their growth. I hope they can draw such a distinction.

Zillion has had its day.
All the housewives will be back in the kitchen soon baking chocolate cakes (send me some!)
