O.K. not every bodies cup of tea but I enjoyed it and also enjoyed the meat when cooked. This is my dad and I many years ago after a successful day out. These were shot around East Tamaki, and Pakuranga. Now all houses.

This was way up the river from Mercer another successful outing. The St/St camp oven I still have and I removed the legs and now boil up the dogs food in. Made that when I was an apprentice. Gawd I am starting to show my age. LOL.

Gawd I am starting to show my age. LOL. It looks like you had a good time there. Memories come up when I look at the picture. When I was about 19years old (a fair while back!!) I went hunting with an old guy in France. They were about 10 hunters and each one had to bring a "Treiber" I don't know the English word for it. The treibers had to walk through the forest and make noises and the animals would run out. They were only allowed to shoot a certain amount of animals. I have good memories about these times even I would struggle today to do the same! (feelings for animals improved with age!) ;D

I think the English called them flushers. Here in NZ one is wasting their time without a good gun dog. I had a black labardor(sp) who was a champ, sadly I lost him to stomach cancer when only 11 yrs old.

So the flushers were the answer. There were some dogs too but not many. They mainly were used to find the animal when shut (e.g. ducks). In the evening the flushers were invited for diner in a French restaurant and they were allowed to order what ever they wanted. It was a lot of fun.

Maybe a risky occupation being a flusher, they deserved the feed?

Maybe a risky occupation being a flusher, they deserved the feed? When I was young and doing this I never thought about being a target! ;D Today I think I would be more careful with whom I would go hunting. They were all in their 70s and 80s!! and I am not sure how their eyesight was! But there was never an accident when I was there.
