This little thread is about health and well being and what YOU have personally found good for you and your family.
Whether they be herbal or a good brand of insect repellent. Links to studies on Sun screen or the like. This is where you can pop your findings.

He has very high blood pressure and I have a book from 1903 with recommended remedies. WE were looking in the book to find out what they used in the olden days! The chapter about blood pressure started: 100 years ago ...... When Oasis saw that he refused to even read further. This would be a recommended remedy from 200 years ago! ;D ;D

HEAD ACHE When my children have a headache I ask them how much water did they drink lately. I have found out that when I don't drink enough I get a headache.

BLOOD PRESSURE. LOW Rosemary is great for rising blood pressure isn't that interesting ... when I was pregnant my blood pressure was so low that my midwife had to take it twice to make sure I was still alive! She was very into herbal remedies so I'm surprised she didn't know about Rosemary. Rosemary is also lovely if you are a brunette ... boil up a couple of stalks in some water, store in a container and use as a final rinse after shampooing. It brings out the shine in dark brown hair ... just remember to use an old towel to dry your hair afterwards!

One thing I always have in the house is Tea Tree oil ... it is a wonderful antiseptic.
I use it in my son's bath ... as they are both prone to skin infections. I also use it whenever I get a pimple, just dab a little oil straight onto the pimple, it seems to stop it spreading and turning it into a huge zit lol!

It is also great to use if one has the dreaded lurgy, in the same way as eucalyptus oil. I used to sell this when I had my deli and health food shop. Way back. LOL.

Actually I also sold a substitute for coffee. This was made from dandelion root and roasted then ground. It was then used like coffee. I am going back about 20 yrs ,but I think it was put out by Healtheries. (I may have prattled on about this in a earlier thread so excuse the senior moment if it exists) LMAO
As a edition dandelion is high in iron and the leaves, flowers are excellent in salads.

Yes, we can buy dandelion in supermarkets in Switzerland for salad. They are grown with cover to keep them light yellow. And we make a honey like spread with dandelion flowers. And I have read there are recipes for dandelion wine! A versatile plant! Do you think I could try to dry the roots and make coffee? This would be me!

You can make wine out of any plant so long as its not poisonous. Gorse flowers was a favourite as well as rose hip or rose petal, but you do need an aweful lot of blooms for the latter. If you like drinking tea the leftovers make a great wine, meaning the tea not the old discarded leaves.
