I don't know about everyone else but I often want to pull my hair out over conflicts with my teen. Can we share advice and ideas about getting through the teenage years? The good news is my mother survived it and I'm planning on following suit.

My 14 year old is pretty fantastic.
Unfortunately, I can't claim any credit for that... I'm a Libra, his dad's a Libra, and HE is a Libra.

Have you tried: listening to his music, and faking enjoyment? evacuating the house when he has friends over?
Oooh, I scored big brownie points with my son and his friends. Kees' msn kept going off while he was in the loo, so I typed a message, "this is Kees' mum. He will be back soon". The person started swearing at me, and saying that I WAS Keanu, stop acting like a biartch etc. So I typed back, "Listen here you little fart-knocker...I know where you live, and if you don't piss the f*** off, I'll pay you a visit".
For some reason, Kee and his friends(including the girl I abused) thought it was hilarious, and I went from being "Kees Mum", to "I know you". Oh joy. I think. lol.

I have a 14 year old son and wouldn't let him chat on mbs let alone msn. Look at all the trouble teenagers have with cell phones with the peer pressure and teasing.
That's my opinion on kids and msn.

That's sad, josh. My son has a bebo site, msn, his own e-mail, and a mob phone. He hasn't had any problems with any of them... except for all his "groupies". lol. He is also allowed to use my Zillion account. He used to use my TM account to talk about Wrestling, and Gaming, but my MB priviledges were removed(my fault, not his).

Kids can have their own account on TZ its called a youth account. Another of their better features. TM have a lot to learn once they realise that money is only part of the equation.

Cyber Space is dangerous enough for adults, let alone children. This quote from you is not a very nice thing that I would want my kids to be a part of. " Kees' msn kept going off while he was in the loo, so I typed a message, "this is Kees' mum. He will be back soon". The person started swearing at me, and saying that I WAS Keanu, stop acting like a biartch etc. " I wonder if that kid if they are a kid because you don't know who you are really talking to today in cyber space, would be allowed to actually speak the swear words, they used on you at home. They can say anything on the net without their parents knowing but then the parents who let their kids participate on the net obviously don't care. That is my opinion. It is a worry that you found what that kid said to you as funny. Is your son allowed to post swear words on the net aglarana?

I said, my son and his friends found my reply hilarious. 2nd of all, "swearing on the Net" is the least of my worries, as far as CS is concerned. He doesn't "have my permission" to swear, because I know he is going to swear anyway. Sorry to tell you folks, but when you eyes and ears are out the equation, your kids are swearing.

Doesn't mean you should condone it though. My sister is a shocker, swears like a trooper then tells the children off when they do.

I simply said "he doesn't have my permission". I can't stand parents who swear like it's part of a civilised vocabulary, and then tell their kids off. I know plenty of people like that.

Hi Oasisnz. Do you see my point about kids on the net? Or do you agree with aglarana that you can give them a free reign on the net? I just think it has more drawbacks than good points. The possibilities I mean.
What do you think?

My kids KNOW that they are not allowed to Swear and Know that the poo will hit the fan if I find out from anyone that they were swearing.

Let me think. Try reading the posts, take some time to actually figure out what's being said, THEN reply. Kay?

You're right Aglarana, my mistake. I was more thinking about my own spiel on the subject, before taking your post into full consideration.

but then the parents who let their kids participate on the net obviously don't care. Such immature, and thoughtless posting shows me that you either don't have kids, or have no real experience raising your children. Same goes for your God-complex. Kids swear. Face it. *oops. That was a whoppa of a typo. pmsl!
