Off to Dunedin tomorrow to continue her schooling, (and be closer to boyfriend who is studying at Otago University), that's it, the last chick has flown this roost, it's been a bit of an emotional time here this evening, we both cried a little when I explained to her that I'm grumpy with her at times, because I love her. How have others coped with the time when the last child left home? Relieved?

We're a few years off that here thank heavens!
But I do remember when I was a teenager, mum and dad always joked that I had to be out of the house by the age of 18 ... funnily enough I was - I got married lol!
I'm the oldest, and I've noticed with my sister and now my brother, that my parents have tried to keep them at home for longer than I was. Sis was 18 when she left, brother is 19 and still at home, although he is not there much! But yeah, I think they were a bit sad and a bit relieved when Sis and I left.

LOL,havnt been in car with him as yet im to scared,he been having a few lessons but not actually aloud on the road tell 15yrs. When she was a learner I often felt I put my life on the line! She wasn't scared at all. Then the big day came to get the learners licence. I went with her to AA. She has a bright yellow car. I watched her driving off with a smile the guy from AA beside her and 5 minutes later they came back. He was driving and she was crying. ;D ;D ;D It was soooo funny I have to laugh when I think about it. Sorry I guess it is a bad thing to laugh as mother but I haven't seen something as funny as this for a long time!! She drove quite fast towards a give way place and he pulled the break!! After that she was scared for a while and didn't want to drive again. But she overcame it and got the licence the second time around. I find it was good what he did.

I don't think it is bad to laugh at your child... had a HUGE laugh today at Miss7 expense... she decided to cut her hair... problem was that SHE cut it while she had a pony tail, so no hair actually fell of... until I took the rubber band out and started brushing her hair (gave me hell of a shock first all this hair falling out, until I realised it was cut NOT falling out) - so I asked her who cut her hair at school? answer was as I expected: no one! after a bit of questioning she told me that it was herself... I didn't say anything! tonight her sister (miss5) asked: "why does Miss7 have a haircut like daddy has on the side?" LMAO.... Miss7's face was just priceless.... wonderful! I had tears in my eyes and I am sure Miss7 learnt her lesson ;D
I love your story Ivy, classic!!!!!

I remember when I was about 7 I did cut the hair of a doll. The unfortunate thing was that it didn't regrow!
