A friend of mine has sent me this. I thought I want to share it with you: would you walk on this? The Glass Bridge Construction of the Skywalk began March of 2004 and is estimated to be completed by 4th quarter of 2006. The glass bridge will be suspended 4,000 feet above the Colorado River on the very edge of the Grand Canyon. On May 2005, the final test was conducted and the stucture passed engineering requirements by 400 percent, enabling it to withstand the weight of 71 fully loaded Boeing 747 airplanes (more than 71 million pounds. The bridge will be able to sustain winds in excess of 100 miles per hour from 8 different directions, as well as an 8.0 magnitude earthquake within 50 miles. More than one million pounds of steel will go into the construction of the Grand Canyon Skywalk.

Awesome achievement alright.
Meanwhile, every three seconds, a little child dies, completely unnecessarily, from the effects of extreme poverty...
(oops, sorry, 'twas I that said to leave ones religion and philosophy at the door....)

Unfortunately Oasis ... 'advancement' often comes at the price of other folk who are struggling to survive ... while you are correct in what you say ... there are other perbetrators who need to think also about the money that is misappropriated.
Lets just look at the acheivement as it sits before us and perhaps debate the rights and wrongs and the cost in a separate thread. It is a thing of beauty from some perspectives I would say ... but it is just a hey look at me at the end of the day.
Very thought provoking post that I'd like to see carried on in another section.

yep this is about a 4 hour drive from where i live on an indian resevation. Interingstly the tribe first set up a casino at this spot hoping to cash in on los vegas tourists. However that venture went bankrupt as all the gambling one would wont is in vegas. so now they bus, fly or just somehow get you to this spot to get this special view. When i get that way i will give you my thoughts. No problem with me going out there milison lol

Besides the 'mickey mouse' way it has been constructed, nobody is wearing suitable climbing gear.Shudders.
