"so when would it suit you to talk about it? - can we make a time?" Nice approach there Manuela, doesn't alway work in reality though, especially when the problem is in your face, right this minute, as you have kindly asked said teenager all day to carry out a fairly simple task, whom instead opts to lay in bed all blardy day and not lift a finger in any way to help in the everyday running of the house. I wasn't here all day you see, had I have been, it may not have escalated as it did, I remember my sisters bitching with my mum too, it's not a pretty sight! I told her she has an attitude problem, and needs to work on it.

Time to confiscate stuff, that seems to work here, then things go back to the same old after shes earned everything back. Should we put up a 'smart and cunning parents of teenagers' thread in parenting? Lets get em! We can share ideas. ;D

If they work part-time for their own money, you can't confiscate their allowance as punishment. Money seemed to be a big motivator in our family, more so than TV or phone privileges. Nowadays they all have mobiles which even goes into the shower with them??? I've always wondered how come the phones still work after being in that steam for hours, but they do.

whatever strategies you use,...consistency is essential,.. and try to remember back to when you were that age,......
Maori has a saying if you look hard enuff your whakapapa will come back and slap you in the face,...yes often we will see ourselves in that floppy fumbly grumpy teenager,... I wouldnt want to be them for anything,.. noway,..the poor darlings,... its called the "bloom of youth" a very difficult period for them,. and they dont come out of that, till, they are maybe 20 to 23, depending on the maturity or not of the teenager ,...
sometimes it dosent hurt for us as adults to take the "wrong" on our shoulders of love,.. look after them theyre so precious,......and they are victims of thier raging hormones ,..
