This material was originally published in 1954, written by a bloke called Ogden. PUBLISHERS' NOTE This volume has been compiled from Ogden Nash's earlier works, which were published in America but not in this country. The poems, which will be new to British readers, have been arranged afresh and revised by the author for the British edition. The publication of this collection, taken together with the reissue of The Face is Familiar and the other later volumes already in print, namely Good Intentions, Versus, Family Reunion, and The Private Dining-Room, now makes available in this country the entire body of verse which the author wishes to preserve in book form. London, 1954. This Ogden fella is a hard case, hope you enjoy reading some of his works. AWAY FROM IT ALL I wish I were a Tibetan monk Living in a monastery. I would unpack my trunk And store it in a tronastery; I would collect all my junk And send it to a jonastery; I would try to reform a drunk, And pay his expenses at a dronastery. If my income shrunk I would send it to a shronastery.

THE JAPANESE
How courteous is the Japanese; He always says, 'Excuse it, please.' He climbs into his neighbour's garden, And smiles, and sys, 'I beg your pardon'; He bows and grins a friendly grin, And calls his hungry family in; He grins, and bows a frinddly bow; 'So sorry, this my garden now.'

ADMIRAL BYRD
Huzza Huzza for Admiral Byrd About whom many fine things I have heard. Huzza Huzza for his gallant crew About whom many fine things I have heard too. Huzza Huzza for their spirit of Adventia So very different from Senile Dementia. And another Huzza for the U.S.A. Which produces so many heroes like they.

I've never heard of him before or read any of his works. He sounds a bit of a dag, someone who likes to play with words. I like that.
