I just came across a website with an interesting project. How to make a mini motor to show young ones how they work. Unfortunately the website is in German and I don't know if you get these flat batteries here. But it might work with other batteries (9V block) as well. You need: 1 flat battery copper wire (approx 1mm diameter) some sanding paper plier strong magnet Wind the copper wire about 30 to 40 times to a spool. Leave the wire ends placed on the sides in the centre of the spool in an 90 degree angle. Hold the wires together with a thread or some glue. Grind the top sides of the wire ends with the sanding paper to remove the lacquer leave the bottom sides of the wire ends with the lacquer. Bending the contacts of the battery to a U shape so that the ends of the wound wire can sit on it. Hold the magnet close to the spool and give the spool a push and it will start to turn. www.supermagnete.ch/project86Click the video and you can see it.
