..., how does Darwin explain this one? ;D I caught this tadpole very late in the season last year, it wintered over and has just now emerged as a frog...

Miss 3 wants her own tadpoles so she can watch them grow then let them go once they are ready to. And seeing as I had filled in our fish pond a couple of years ago and now Its just lawn, all we have Is a gold fish bowl... Would they be fine in it or not?
And If so, does anyone know how we would set it up or would it be better in a large glass fish tank?

I guess a fish glass tank would be my choice and maybe a water plant (Mitre10) or water kress it looks nicer and it is more like their real habitat. Keep us informed

I would take then a flat bucket and maybe cover it when they start to get legs. Maybe even put a stone into it that they have an "island". If you life in the country you might have an old bath in the paddock.

Containing the frogs is another issue completely, as they are the Houdinis of the animal world! A glass case isn't ideal for frogs, in my opinion, as they tend to leap against the glass. OUCH! The fish bowl would be fine, as Christine says, just chuck some greenery and obstacles in there to make their life more interesting, and they survive very well on any old fish food, flakes are best, but granuals are ok too, as they just latch on and suck till their hearts content. ;D

It is exciting for children to see how they metamorphose.
