At Christmas time everybody seems to go a little mad. It's been suggested to me that I am the only one that goes mad at this time of the year, and everyone around me is in fact acting in a completely rational manner. Is there a cure for such an ailment?

Actually Kim ... all they are saying is that because it's Xmas and you are full of what people term 'yuletide' ... they know they can highlight your ever pressent madness under the guise of it being a temporary ailment knowing full well they will get away with it.
However ... when one reflects the constant state of madness, we ponder such characters as the mad hatter who has gone down into history as a very colourful character. So being mad is not really the insult some may intend to be, in fact from what I know of your 'family' it is likely to be a masked compliment and a very public display of affection towards you - we all know there is only one Kim.
However if there is the slightest chance they do mean MAD in the conventional sense ... you could suggest they move Xmas to the 'new' date of June the 17th and celebrate it then. This of course is as obscure a date as December 25th but we don't need to tell anyone that.
Then of course there is the final perspective of the madness of this time being contagious and one not recognising they are mad therefore when someone acts what seems to be less than enthusiastic towards the cause of their madness ... they are somewhat puzzled and will assume you are the person who is mad. I wouldn't worry about that too much it tends to pass about midnight on the 25th and you will wake up to find that everyone's perception of madness is now levelled to the same degree.
Now if you can make head of tail of THIS madness then you are less mad than all of us.
(I'm mad about this time too ... someone asked me if they wanted an item I bought gift wrapped and I said YES PLEASE - but not in Xmas paper ... they looked at me as though I was mad!) Good to see you and im looking forward to a nice quiet peaceful madness that doesn't encompass overreating, gift getting (not giving i reckon) or the danger of getting eletrocuted if I water a christmas tree thats been plugged in. I SAY BRING ON THE MADNESS! hehe.
