Ok so I know this happened in January and its now February but I haven't been able to get into YOP to show you all! You may remember Chch having quite a major storm on the 18th of January, with thunder, lightening and hail - very exciting! Well down our street we had a little more excitement as we are a little more low lying than other places, and we flooded! Here are some pix for you: Looking down our driveway to the street ... A car trying to drive down the street ... And of course some people just had to take advantage of the water lol ...

Thunder and lightning too, my poor cat was very scared lol. On the same day Chch had a water spout out in Sumner, it was on the news too. Freaky day for us!

Way cool, dalby. LOL I bet all the neighbourhood kids loved it! ;D No damage I hope? It sure was cool, my boys were out with their gumboots having a wonderful time! No damage around our place, although we were a bit worried about brother in laws sleepout as it is a bit lower lying than our house, but fortunately it only got as far as his top step. We had to shift our car from the street to up the driveway, the water was up to the bottom of the door! A car down the road had water get into the electrics and it set off the horn, we had a fire engine come down the street to help fix it lol. On the news they were showing other places not far away that had the water coming into their houses, people were standing on the streets telling drivers to drive slowly as the wake from the cars was washing the water up into the houses!

Hey dallyballybee .. Hello gorjusss - glad to hear you guys are ok ... you DO know don't u that there are beds here for you if you need to get out of chch!!! (even just for a break!) I can't afford to pay for your airfares otherwise i would - but i can offer accommodation. Love you my sis. xxx You are a darling! thanks heaps for the offer. After the quake there have been so many offers of accommodation all around the country, we are overwhelmed! At the moment we are trying to get back to a routine of sorts, mainly for the kids, school has just started again for D and we are hoping C's school will open next week so he can go back too. But we are definitely feeling the need to be away from aftershocks. Constantly broken sleep is not fun, kind of takes me back to when the kids were babies and we were stoked when we got 4 hours of unbroken sleep. I will keep you updated if and when we decide to get out of here, work is also crazy busy for both of us at the moment, Paul works for Carters and they have heaps of builders coming by to pick up supplies just to fix houses around the place. Not only that but he has to help fix up the building he works in, it was pretty trashed. At least he has a job for a good long while after this, so many people here in Chch can't say that. It is all just so surreal.
