The techy blokes where we take our 'puters say that AVG is as good as any anti-virus... free.grisoft.com/doc/1I see they now also have AVG Anti-Spyware Free. I've yet to use that software, but the boys at the 'puter shop also recommend spybot for spyware protection... www.spybot.com/Whilst spyware isn't really a virus in it's own right, ultimately they open your computer up so the real nasties can get in. Another recommendation (thanks MPG) is spywareblaster, which works actively to try and keep the nasties out to start with, whereas with spybot you have to run a scan... www.download.com/SpywareBlaster/3000-8022_4-10486084.htmlIt also pays to have a personal firewall, we use Zone Alarm, this let's you know when your puter is being "hacked" and gives you tips on how to resolve the issue. tinyurl.com/yfynqz . Any other recommendations?

Someone who runs a computer security site suggested avast to me a while back and I found it superior to avg in detection rates, less false positives, and less resourse hungry. I'm still with avast on lappy but have heard that antivir : www.free-av.com/ might ave better detection rates than avast. another set of eyes for spyware, which can be run along with SB and S&D is: www.lavasoft.de/products/ad-aware_se_personal.php

Ad-aware picked up an additional 22 problems!
MPG, will there be any conflict running two anti-viruses, I know I've had problems like that in the past, with Norton, I think, perhaps because the paid ones have inbuilt systems that don't like competition?
In other words, would it be better to get rid of AVG when installing other AV's, or will they run together OK?

Re: two AV's - if you don't really know what UR doing, it's prolly best to just have one, avast or antivir, imho. You can have two installed and only run one manually and one as the automatic default, but it might be a bit of mucking about. Norton seems to rank in the very average category for detections and extremely annoying section for system resource use.

Not all cookies are bad. Some have a very good use and very good reason for being set - they might store timestamps, session id's preferences, personalising info for your site visit, etc, etc, etc. Depends on the cookie and the site setting it them. Why not list the sites and the cookie names (but don't list their values) so someone can advise if they seem harmless cookies?

Hi Misi,
She can sign in, right? So she is at least seeing that form. You mentioned others were experiencing the same problem. While not good for them, it's good for diagnosing the problem. What browsers are they using and what versions? In the browser, usually you can get this info by clicking help>about. If it turns out to be one browser, then that's a start. If they can try other browsers and still get the same problem, can they advise you what browsers and versions they tried? If they can try another computer and still get the same problem, please advise. If one of them trusts you enough, can they lend you their login info for you to try on your computer and advise us what happens?
Cheers
