wanting to weave a cloak for my niece who graduates at the end of this year. preferably brown or black or both. any info on where to get them from would be greatly appreciated.

Well this may sound a bit stupid, but the poultry farms that kill their birds. They usually scold the carcass then use a plucking machine to extract the feathers. If you have a talk to them and offer to pluck some dry for the feathers I am sure they would oblige. Thats if you are up to this as some people would not.

I saw some being sold at Frankton market, Hamilton a wee while ago and was with a lady who was buying them for the same purpose. I know of people who collect roadkill birds for that purpose, and I've also heard recently that feathers are going to be imported from overseas -
