I didn't attack anyone... I suggested another thread was needed for what was said...
This thread was about " Our Childhood "
Not others Childhood...
I had a fabulous childhood...
I will leave this thread now...

I will leave this thread now... I know you didn't attack anyone, I was editing Tormores post for attacking you. Then because you quoted Tormores post I had to edit it again. And now we are well and truly off topic!

Well!! I'll be damned!! There are certainly some strange thinking folks on here - namely the one calling themselves 'Snooka".
I mentioned my own childhood albeit briefly - was it really so off topic as others who were talking about the scenic beauties of this lovely country you have here??? To my mind, without meaning any offence - those posts were the ones off topic.
I am a visitor to your lovely land and I was given this website as being pretty fair, rational and almost devoid of foul language!! Obviously it makes up for that by having other oddities - like this Snooka - and the very disturbed and really sad woman who did a very long rant in the Whingers section last night. I will not mention her name out of respect for the problems she seems to be facing!
How disappointing.

To every thing, turn, turn, turn There is a season, turn, turn, turn And a time to every purpose under heaven A time to be born, a time to die A time to plant, a time to reap A time to kill, a time to heal A time to laugh, a time to weep
To everything, turn, turn, turn There is a season, turn, turn, turn And a time to every purpose under heaven A time to build up, a time to break down A time to dance, a time to mourn A time to cast away stones A time to gather stones together
To everything, turn, turn, turn There is a season, turn, turn, turn And a time to every purpose under heaven A time of love, a time of hate A time of war, a time of peace A time you may embrace A time to refrain from embracing
To everything, turn, turn, turn There is a season, turn, turn, turn And a time to every purpose under heaven A time to gain, a time to lose A time to rend, a time to sew A time to love, a time to hate A time for peace, I swear it's not too late

Goodness - a romantic soul downunder Tormore! I enjoy the evocative lyrics you choose - and I noticed you posted many yesterday evening - always appropriate, always suited to what is happening. You are perceptive and I don't even know whether you are male or female - it matters not really because you have soul!! Thank you!!

I close my eyes, only for a moment, and the moment's gone All my dreams, pass before my eyes, a curiosity
Dust in the wind, all they are is dust in the wind
Same old song, just a drop of water in an endless sea All we do, crumbles to the ground, though we refuse to see
Dust in the wind, All we are is dust in the wind
Don't hang on, nothing lasts forever but the earth and sky It slips away, all your money won't another minute buy
Dust in the wind, All we are is dust in the wind

we walked to school everyday thru the bush, across a tree log that spanned the bush river,., over the hill, the mist always hung over the place thru which we had to descend down hundreds of little stairs to the school bellow the clouds, it was a long way and some of us kids were only 6 or 7 ,..
some of the senior kids use to bring huhu bugs and cook them on the pot belly in class ugh!!
As well some of the bigger kids use ta take the little kids hankies off them for hands nail and hanky inspection its a wonder the teachers never ever cottoned on to that, wow it was so sore being wacked with a ruler if you didnt have a hanky
can you see todays kids walk that far to school,..... thank goodness my grandfather rescued me and took me back to civilization,.. but I did it for a whole year,.. it gives me the horrors thinking about it now it was just the way thing's were,...

There were fourteen of us in all, there were times when we had to share shoes, or piggy back one of our siblings, the unsealed roads were hard on the feet trekking down 12k's of unsealed roads, the older/braver amongst us used to jump the fence and stand in a hot cow patty for a while on cold mornings so the younger/wimpier ones could use the shoes... *a work of fiction?*

everynight last thing,..the boys had to bring a bucket of water up from the creek for us to wash in a basin, just outside the door (one door in the house) which by the way was a dirt floor little place,..
it was only tiny and it was used for sleeping in at night,.. they had flax whariki,..( mats ).. for laying the matresses on,.. which were folded up every morning and piled up by the back wall away from the fireplace, that was used to cook all the food on ,....
it took me awhile to realize there were no taps, in and around the place, and no flush loo, and worse, no electricity heck!! just candles.
the kids were really mean at first ,.. they wore all my nice clothes and shoes,.. had all my blankets and linen my grandparents had sent with me,.. rode my bike broke it and blamed me,..
I had to wear all thier old stuff,..got beat up every opportunity ( I realize now it was jealousy ) cos I had been raised very pakehafied in whakatane hehe!! and I spoke with a plum in my mouth according to them ,...ohhh Deaahh!!
they were real bush maori people,.. right in the middle of the ureweras,.. Ruatahuna, my Tuhoe roots on my dads side
I didnt speak fluent maori,.. but I understood all of it ,..that was all they spoke it was wonderful to listen to them,..they even argued in te reo,.. eventually I could as well,. really good too
Eventually moi became cockey,.. and I stuck up for myself,..had a lota scraps,. got good at using my fists,... still got beat up but not so easily anymore ,..yeah got really good,.
learned how ta ride the horse bare back,.. they had a pig it followed me everywhere haha! A few of us kids had to sleep outside, under a tree one night, in fact often, when we had visitors,.....and that darned pig she found me,.... came and settled itself next to me ,..it was cool,...and really good haha!! ever slept by a pig?,...*giggles*I wouldnt eat her when they killed and cooked her, blimin cannibals,...
we had to bathe in a creek at least twice a week,... the creek was in a paddock and could be seen by a passing car or bus which was a rare occurance anyway,. but it did happen,.... told to sit in the water and dont move if ever that happened or else people will see our bums,.. I longed to do just that and one day I did, and got a hiding.... guffaws,...
was rough,..but it was just matter of fact,...its the way they were,..
I didnt appreciate things then,.... however looking back it's a never to be forgotten experience living like that I learned bush craft,.. was so happy when I saw my grandfather,... he had only come to visit,... but I refused to let him go,,.... i screamed and protested and hung on to him,... end of story ,...he took me home

Great story, Misi. How long were you there? How old were you? You should write a book, or at least a short story, I felt like I was right there with you.

hi ,..that experience is continued from post 73,... there is so much more ,.. when we went to the movies,... shown at one of the maraes once a month,..us kids had to go on the bus,.. .on the way home some of the boys riding horse,...stopped the bus,.. and took some of the big girls to piggyback the horses and race the bus home,.. it was really exciting for us little kids
the bus driver was good,.... he let them play everytime,.. as long as the horse riders behaved and took the girls home how cool is that,..

remebering it wasnt like today,..... a girl back then wore dresses home and anywhere else,.. no such thing as jeans or pants like today,..
a school uniform was best wear for some of the little one's to go to the movies in,... I was the only one there that owned pretty dresses,... I got to wear one now and again,.. very rarely,... it depended who had come to visit,..
I had an uncle who came home from the army now and again,... and Id ask him for my dresses and blankets ,.. each time he left,... back to the cinders for me,... and fists in action again,..ooohhh!!
