I now have a problem that I can only portforward one port. It used to be 8080 for the webcam, then I started downloading movies and portforwarded 45682 for uTorrent. Now 8080 won't port forward no matter what I do! I think it's because I have a D-Link router, connected through a wireless acess point (Netgear), to my lappy. It's like having two routers linked together and doubles the hassle. It took me all day and several websites to initially get any portforwarding at all!
PS I've given up trying to dowload the 3 DVD AC/DC collection "Plug Me In" as it says I've downloaded 10Gb and uploaded 4Gb, yet the file is only 4Gb and it's 48% downloaded! I think the smaller files are easer to download - the average movie being about 750Mb.

That's weird? ?? Forget the router and just see if U-Broadcast works anyway.... Then try and broadcast it woithout touching your router. You may have already portforwarded without realising or you may not need to port forward...

Pondering your problems..... What was the cure in the end? How did your ISP fix things?? Did you enter the IP 196.168.1. 2 into the box? (not 196.168.1. 1 ?) Another thought, when you enter all the numbers in, then click on APPLY, did you just exit the router? You don't nee to reboot or anything..... I can't see how entering a port forward into your router could possibly stuff up your connection.

They got me to go into Control Panel then Network Connections then right click on each Local Area Connection, then into properties then highlight Internet Protocol then properties then click Obtain An IP Address Automatically. This was done to both Local Area Connections and that fixed it so there in no numbers displayed there now. It took them ages to come up with this so I don't want to stuff it again. LOL. ;D ;D

If you had already portforwarded before they did that, then you should still be portforwarded! What they did won't change that, it would just reassign an IP (not the 196.168.1.2 one, but the other long list of numbers...). Your computer has two IP's with a router. An IP that goes to your ISP, and the 196.168.1.2 that is from your computer to your router and that stays the same... My guess is that you have port forwarding all sorted already without ever going near your router again, so try it!!!

I'm at work being naughty!
So if you hadn't got around to changing anything, at what stage did it crash?

Not a 100% sure but I do remember getting into the advanced window and I could not find those windows that you put up, so wether I got shitty and just click on something or what, I do not remember. I told you I am a thick shit when it comes to computers. LMAO.

I talked to one of the computer geeks at work who said there is a box you can tick on your router that would allow me to get in remotely and do all the adjustments etc. I worry that if you can't find the portforwarding page, then you will have as much trouble finding the box to tick to allow me access to your router and you will crash the system again! LOL
